This library is managed and operated by volunteers working in partnership with North Yorkshire Council.
The library is located on the main A170 Scarborough to Thirsk Road, in the village of West Ayton, in between Ayton Methodist Chapel and the Forge Valley Inn. A bus stop nearby is served by the 8 and 128 buses.
A car park is adjacent to the library with space for six cars and one space is available immediately outside the library. If the car park is full, there is a large car park behind the library which belongs to the pub but may be used by library customers. The library has automatic doors and all areas are accessible to wheelchairs.
You can borrow a range of books for all ages in a variety of formats, including large print and audio. Music CDs, DVDs and foreign language titles are also available for loan, as well as micro:bits. You can request any item that is not immediately available.
For further information about any of the activities below, please contact the library.
Explore the world of books through a sensory storytime designed especially for babies from new born to walking age. This is a friendly session for mums, dads, grandparents and carers to join in with storytelling, songs and sensory play.
Sessions are held on Tuesdays from 1.30pm to 2.30pm during term time. A £1 voluntary donation towards refreshments and resources is welcome. Limited space is available for prams and pushchairs.
A reading group is held every last Tuesday of the month from 6.15pm.
Knit and Stitch takes place every last Wednesday in the month from 7pm to 9pm.
You can follow North Yorkshire libraries on Library Service Twitter.
There are a number of opportunities to volunteer at the library. See the library volunteering page or ask at the library for further details.
