Adult and community educationNorth Yorkshire Adult Learning and Skills Service welcomes over 9,400 learners each year to more than 1,200 courses at venues across the County. The aim of the service is to provide quality education and training for the adult population of North Yorkshire.
Learners join our courses for a number of reasons - to improve skills for work, to gain a qualification, to improve health or to take up a new hobby. The range of courses on offer is vast, from courses to support work skills and apprenticeships, to learning for leisure and health. There really is something for everybody and we will help to find the right courses to suit your individual needs. Many courses are described in a course brochure, available from the relevant area adult learning office or by clicking on the link below. New courses are added throughout the year so keep in touch with your local area to stay updated. There may be courses worth travelling for so keep up-to-date with courses that are on offer in other areas too. You will find some courses mentioned in the course brochures which don't allow online enrolment. These courses usually require an initial informal interview or assessment to ensure we offer the right level of course. These courses are often free or at a reduced cost for some people. Reduced fees and free courses are available for learners on benefits who are actively seeking work and there are concessionary rates for learners over 60 undertaking health and leisure courses.
