New children and families' prevention service launched

This new service will feature 12 locally based area prevention teams across North Yorkshire, to ensure that children, young people and families have speedier and easier access to the best possible support and help, when they need it. See the pdf icon prevention service [121kb] document for more details.

Children's centres

Every family with children up to the age of five, and parents-to-be, can take part in activities, meet people and make friends at the county's children's centres. Each centre has a base but also works at venues across the local area.

Activities and services may include:

  • Early education and childcare for children, including play sessions;
  • Advice, support and learning opportunities for parents and carers;
  • Child and family health services, such as antenatal classes; and
  • Links with Jobcentre Plus.

You can find more information on breastfeeding from our public health team, including tips and a map showing support in your area.
