Renewing books and other items

Books may be renewed up to five times without returning the books to the library, provided they are not required by anyone else. After that, books must be brought to the library to be renewed. Audio-visual items are loaned for three weeks at a time. A repeat hire charge is made if a CD or DVD is returned late.

Renew your books

You can renew your books at any time by logging into your online library account.

You can also telephone 0845 034 9583.

For both of these renewal methods, you will need to enter your library card number and PIN. If you don't have a PIN, call in at any library to collect it. For security reasons, PINs are not available via phone or email.

You may also renew your books by:

  • Bringing the book details to your library;
  • Telephoning your local library;
  • Post, including in your letter your details and the details of the books you wish to renew; or
  • Emailing the libraries service at libraries@northyorks.gov.uk.
