Registering to vote

You can vote in national and local elections if you are aged 18 or over. You must ensure that you are on the electoral register - the voters list.

Your name can be added to it once you are 16.

If you are living away from home, you can register to vote at your home address and where you are living. This means that you have a choice about where you vote - but you can only use your vote once in any single election.
