School funding

By law, we have to submit a yearly education and children's and young people's services budget statement.

The statements, required by law, tell schools and the public about our children and young people's service funding plans.

The latest budget statement for 2013-14 and the end-of-financial year statement for 2011-12 are below. The end-of-year statement for 2012-13 will be published by the end of September. If you have a query on the published statements, contact

Schools forum

The North Yorkshire Schools Forum plays an important role in school funding.

Schools forums were established to give schools greater involvement in the distribution of funding within their local authority and to act as a consultative and advisory funding body. The North Yorkshire Schools Forum has 33 members and includes representatives from maintained schools, academies, pupil referral services, early years providers, dioceses, trade unions and post-16 providers.

The forum has set up working groups to discuss specific issues and their impact on individual schools before producing draft proposals. Current working groups include School Funding Reform/Local Management of Schools Developments, Early Years Development, Maintenance and Servicing Scheme for Schools and Learning Technology. The traded services panel is also a sub-group of the schools forum.

See details of the North Yorkshire Schools Forum, including agendas and the constitution. See the schools forum area of the Department for Education website.
