Waste prevention survey

To help us track the impact of our campaigns, the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership (YNYWP) is interested in your behaviour in relation to food waste and other organic waste at home.

Consultation background

The YNYWP brings together the nine councils in the area: North Yorkshire County Council, City of York Council, Craven District Council, Hambleton District Council, Harrogate Borough Council, Richmondshire District Council, Ryedale District Council, Scarborough Borough Council and Selby District Council.

The YNYWP manages municipal waste (all waste under the control of a local authority) by carrying out collections from homes and providing household waste recycling centres. The objectives of the YNYWP are to:

  • increase the level of re-use, recycling and composting;

  • use fewer resources; and

  • reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.

In order to encourage residents to change their behaviour and reduce or prevent waste, the YNYWP runs a number of campaigns (including 'Love Food Hate Waste' and 'Home Composting').

One of the ways in which the YNYWP tracks the impact of their campaigns is to use online surveys to look at residents' behaviour. The YNYWP would greatly appreciate it if you could complete this survey which should take no more than ten minutes.

We are looking to collect views from people who live in certain areas and households. Therefore, we would like to take some information about you that will help us understand the survey results. The information you provide will be treated confidentially.
