This library is managed and operated by volunteers working in partnership with North Yorkshire Council.

Library opening hours

  • Monday: closed
  • Tuesday: 2pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday: 2pm to 5pm
  • Friday: 2pm to 5pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 12noon
  • Sunday: closed

Finding the library, parking and access

Coming along the A19 from Selby, turn left at the roundabout into Barlby and carry on to the Barlby / York road. Take the first right after Barlby Community Primary School and head into Howden Road. The library is situated on the left.

Coming along the A19 from York, turn right at the sign post for Barlby, follow the York road and take the third left after the post office and head into Howden Road. The library is situated on the left.

The library is on Howden Road, two doors away from Howden Fisheries and the New Inn. The two bus stops nearby are served by Arriva buses 412 and 415.

A large car park is at the rear of the building with space for 15-20 cars. The library has automatic doors at the front of the building and all areas are accessible to wheelchairs.

Items available from the library

You can borrow a range of books for all ages in a variety of formats, including large print and audio. Music CDs, DVDs and foreign language titles are also available for loan, as well as micro:bits. You can request any item that is not immediately available.

We hold a drop-in storytime for children every Wednesday from 2:15pm to 2:45 pm.
