Tools and knives

You can recycle tools and knives, free of charge, to all our household waste recycling centres. They can be placed in the scrap metal or wood skip for recycling.

If your tool can still be used, you can take it for reuse at Ripon household waste recycling centre and West Harrogate household waste recycling centre. Tools can be donated in the tools container.

We support the Tools for self reliance scheme.

This scheme collects unwanted tools and sewing machines and refurbishes them. They are then sent to Africa, where people use them to learn new skills or earn a living to support themselves and their family. Donations for good-quality tools are required for:

  • joiners
  • motor mechanics
  • blacksmiths
  • engineers
  • plumbers
  • builders
  • leather workers
  • electricians

Good quality sewing machines are also required.
