Caring for our family members or someone important to us is something we can all experience at any age - maybe that’s you?
Caring is universal but many people - young and old - often struggle to recognise that caring has become a part of their life until they are at a point of crisis.
The 2021 Census told us that across North Yorkshire, more than 53,000 people between the ages of five and 90 plus say they look after someone important to them. Every one of those carers has their own story and their own set of challenges.
All-age Carers' Strategy
Our new All-age Carers' Strategy is shaped by research and the lived experiences of local people, helping us to understand what life is like for those who care for family members, friends and neighbours.
We have developed this strategy for carers young and old - we want to make sure the support offered is thoughtful, practical and consistent, whoever you are and whatever your caring role looks like. The strategy will act as a framework to illustrate what good support for those who provide care looks and feels like, and how we will work in partnership to achieve this.
