Children are referred to the Department by their GP, healthcare professionals in other departments, from the ward as inpatients, or from the community teams.

Healthy child team

This is a 0 – 19 North Yorkshire service and provided by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust:

It includes:

  • health visitors (0-5 only)
  • school nursing services
  • immunisation teams

Specialist equipment

If you need special equipment in school to help you learn, speak to your school or nursery or a health care professional (such as a doctor, paediatrician or therapist) to help you get what you need.

If you have autism or are neurodivergent

If you think your child has traits relating to autism, ADHD or is showing signs of a specific learning disability such as dyspraxia or dyslexia, please speak to your school, nursery or health care professional who can help refer you to the right support.

Keyworker Service

NHS keyworker support will be given to children and young people on the Dynamic Support Register in North Yorkshire and York.

Keyworkers will make sure that you get the right support at the right time.

A keyworker will work with you to make sure you are fully involved in your plans, feel listened to and have the support you need.
