Take a trip back in time to the Yorkshire Dales of old

Two experts on Dales history will give people in the Craven area a chance to step back in time next week.

Jim Halsall and Alan Duckworth will present an illustrated talk at Skipton Library to coincide with the publication of their new book, "By Rivers, Through Valleys and Dales – Lancashire and Yorkshire."

Their book contains rare pictures of the Dales in Edwardian times, taken by John William Shaw and his son Alfred, of Blackburn.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for Adult and Community Services, commented: "These beautifully restored photographs give a fascinating insight into what life was like in Craven at the turn of the 19^th and 20^th century. They are sure to delight both family and local historians."

The talk takes place at 2pm on Tuesday October 6. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.
