The official website for North Yorkshire County Council is www.northyorks.gov.uk. There are a number of other websites and web applications that work in line with the website to further facilitate the web services provided. The council also makes use of social media sites to communicate with customers.
Governance of North Yorkshire County Council's websites
www.northyorks.gov.uk is managed by the Web Team which sits within the Communications Unit, Chief Executives Directorate. The website is administrated using devolved content management which means there are approximately one hundred trained content editors who also update the website across different departments for different services for the council.
North Yorkshire County Council links with the all North Yorkshire's district, borough, unitary council's and North Yorkshire Police. Work is ongoing within a partnership agreement to enhance the services provided across all the partner websites so customers can access all our services in a more understandable and consistent way.
The council is reviewing how to improve the website to provide better access to services. The council uses social media sites to communicate with customers and has a number across different social media platforms. The council is reviewing its use of social media and how to further engage in this area in the future if appropriate.
