Councillors - allowancesNorth Yorkshire County Council operates a members' allowances scheme. Copies of the members allowance scheme and the record of payments made under it are available for inspection by members of the public, during office hours, at County Hall in Northallerton. An extract of the members' allowance scheme for 2013/14 is shown below. The scheme was last reviewed by the County Council in February 2013 in respect of 2013/14.
The Council also publishes details of the amounts paid to councillors under "useful downloads" below. Basic allowanceA basic allowance for all members of the Council of £8,994 Special responsibility allowanceSpecial responsibility allowance is paid to certain members of the Council as follows.
Travel and subsistence allowanceTravel and subsistence allowance is paid to members as follows, in respect of approved duties. Details of these duties are included in the full Members Allowance Scheme which forms part of the County Council's Constitution and are also attached as Appendix 1 to the Members Allowances - Notes of Guidance 2013/14. The scheme aligns the rates to those payable to County Council officers. Should officers rates be reviewed during the year, any change will be reflected in the rates payable to Members from the operative date of the review. Car allowances
