Careers - chief executive's groupThank you for taking an interest in opportunities within the Chief Executives Group at North Yorkshire County Council. The Group provides many of the support services that are important to the efficient and effective operation of the County Council.
The Chief Executive is head of paid service and is responsible for managing and coordinating the work of the County Council and leading the Council's Management Board. The Chief Executive directly manages senior staff who are responsible for services which support the work of the County Council as a whole. The Chief Executive remains the principal policy adviser for the County Council. There are three Assistant Chief Executives based in the Chief Executive's Group. One is responsible for human resources and organisational development including communication; another is responsible for policy, performance and partnerships, and the third is responsible for legal and democratic services. Delivering these services depends to a significant extent on the quality of our staff, who fulfil many different roles. In the following pages, you will find information on some of the things we do and the types of staff that we need. Training and development of our staff is a high priority, and we are able to provide a range of career choices. There are a number of opportunities suitable for school leavers, and those starting their working careers, including apprenticeship schemes. Within the group there are a wide range of career choices. Lawyers, human resources, web and press communications specialists, emergency planning officers and customer service advisors are just a few of the roles you would able to follow within the teams.
