What are these services?

Major developments

The Town & Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) Order 2010 (DMPO) defines Major development as development which involves one or more of the following:
  •  The winning and working of minerals or the use of land for mineral working deposits; or
  •  Waste related development; or
  •  Development where the floor space to be created is 1,000 square metres or more; or
  •  Development carried out on a site having an area of 1 hectare or more.

The planning applications for minerals and waste development and developments on County Council owned land in North Yorkshire comes under the jurisdiction of North Yorkshire County Council and any applications submitted to North Yorkshire County Council can be viewed by accessing the online planning register.

The following is a summary of major planning application currently under consideration by the County Council:

Major 'County Matter' development

NY/2010/0356/ENV- Killerby Sand and Gravel Quarry, Killerby
Extraction and processing of sand and gravel including the construction of a site access, conveyors, bridges, associated plant and machinery with restoration to agriculture, nature conservation and wetland.   

NY/2011/0054/ENV - Darrington Quarry, Stubbs Lane / Leys Lane, Cridling Stubbs
Erection of 8 wind turbines, creation of new access point from Leys Lane, alterations to existing access points and ancillary development.

NY/2011/0123/ENV- Marfield Quarry, Leyburn Road, nr Masham
Extension to Marfield Sand and Gravel Quarry connected by a conveyor tunnel under Leyburn Road (B6108), retention of the existing mineral processing plant and ready mix concrete plant and variation to the existing restoration scheme.

NY/2011/0242/ENV- Langwith House Farm, Long Lane, Well, Nosterfield, Bedale (Nosterfield Quarry)
Sand and gravel extraction and restoration.

NY/2011/0392/ENV - Grey Yaud Quarry, Hammer Farm, Ellingstring
Extension to the existing quarry with an additional area proposed for storage and a welfare unit (portacabin).

NY/2011/0429/ENV - Ripon Quarry, North Stainley, Ripon
Extension to existing sand and gravel workings

NY/2012/0100/ENV - Womersley Quarry, off Stubbs Lane, Womersley
Extension to the existing Womersley Quarry spoil disposal scheme involving the importation of colliery spoil including an increase in the height of the existing tip and creation of an altered landform, and extension into two adjoining former limestone quarries (Womersely/Cridling Stubbs Quarry and Northfield Quarry)

NY/2012/0319/ENV - Potgate Quarry, North Stainley, Ripon
Northern extension to the existing limestone quarry to the east of Musterfield Farm and restoration details
