What are these services?

Partnerships

We work in partnership with a variety of other organisations dependent on the particular issue. Working together allows us to work towards common goals and make sure services are not duplicated.

The principal public sector agencies - including North Yorkshire County Council - responsible for promoting the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of our communities, together with the voluntary sector and business community, meet to ensure that we meet these goals.

We recognise that we can all do more with our limited resources if we focus our efforts jointly on a common understanding of communities' needs, and the purpose of these meetings is to provide leadership and to initiate cross-cutting working to deliver benefits of co-ordination, resource management or avoidance of duplication.

The North Yorkshire Community Plan

Partnership working in North Yorkshire takes as its focus the North Yorkshire Community Plan 2011-14. The plan sets out some key priorities for how to help make North Yorkshire an even better place in which to live, work and visit. It does this by focusing on important issues for our communities which need partnership efforts to be tackled effectively.

The plan was formerly known as the Sustainable Community Strategy for North Yorkshire; originally launched in 2008 as a ten-year vision for the North Yorkshire Strategic Partnership (NYSP). It has been re-named following a public consultation during 2011 to refresh the strategy and ensure that it continues to focus on the most critical priorities for the next three years.

You can find more information about the plan and download a copy from the community strategy page.

More about partnership working

Further information about partnership working can be found on the North Yorkshire partnerships website. This is primarily a source of information about the vision and activities of the partnerships in North Yorkshire and also a place where partners can promote their activities. The website includes a range of information including:

  • Copies of key documents, including the community plan;
  • Papers and minutes;
  • Newsletters and partner updates;
  • Information on the County's district local strategic partnerships;
  • Information about the initial stages of North Yorkshire County Council adopting the health and wellbeing agenda and the creation of a health and wellbeing board to oversee this role; and
  • Information about the Local Healthwatch for North Yorkshire.

District level strategic partnerships

In some districts of North Yorkshire, organisations also work together in local strategic partnerships to produce a community strategy for the area. These set out priorities for the area, which partners aim to deliver for local communities.
