The aims of the North Yorkshire Equality Policy are to ensure that services are provided fairly:
"North Yorkshire County Council will take action to identify and eliminate any directly or indirectly discriminatory practices which act as barriers to achieving these aims.
We oppose all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination whether on the grounds of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex or gender reassignment, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, age or any other condition or requirement which places a person at a disadvantage and cannot be objectively justified."
This policy has been the result of consultation and deliberation by service users, employees, management and County Council members. North Yorkshire County Council has two broad corporate equality objectives;
You can find out more about these objectives and how we intend to meet them on our Equalities and diversity pages.
The North Yorkshire County Council website has recently passed the Shaw Trust accessibility accreditation scheme. You can find out more about website accessibility here.
