4Youth service and connecting youth culture
4Youth is a service for young people in North Yorkshire between 11 -19 and up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities. Connecting youth culture is a dedicated team that specialises in arts for young people and forms an integral part of the 4Youth service.
4Youth provides young people in North Yorkshire with places to go, things to do and people to talk to. It is a significant service provider within children and young people's services and delivers a range of organised activities and drop-in activities through youth clubs, youth projects and youth centres. 4Youth provides important support to young people that can help them overcome the personal challenges they face, as they grow and develop into adulthood.
4Youth is committed to helping all young people achieve their full potential. Through its workforce of qualified youth workers it engages with young people directly and focuses on helping them develop the important personal and social life skills that are required to make a successful transition from being a teenager into becoming a fulfilled adult. This journey of discovery can be a real challenge for many young people. It can be an extremely hazardous journey that may lead into contact with other more formal statutory services (for example the police, youth justice service, children's social care).
The help 4Youth provides is achieved by offering young people a range of informal, relaxed and fun learning opportunities within their local communities. Here, they may participate with others in stimulating and exciting positive activities which extend their experience, provide new challenges and generate a sense of well being and personal achievement, within a safe environment. We offer universal activities that are open to all as well as more targeted provision designed to meet the particular needs or circumstances of certain groups of young people. Young people face many obstacles in their life journey of growing from a young person into a young adult. 4Youth works with a range of colleagues and partner organisations by getting alongside young people, supporting them and listening to them.
Along with these partners 4Youth frequently takes the lead to ensure that young people are offered a variety of projects and services to help them not only 'find a voice', but also 'make a difference.' Here are some of the things 4Youth delivers across North Yorkshire throughout the year (including Friday nights and weekends): - youth centres and youth clubs;
