Below you will find out what some of our rights of way team have been up to over the past month. In addition, you can find the latest rights of way notices which are available to view and comment on.

Fire closure notices for open access land - May 2013

Due to the very dry Spring there are several Fire Risk restrictions currently in place in North Yorkshire.  Open Access across tracts of moorland can be closed by Natural England where a danger is considered to exist.  Public rights of way remain open even in the closed areas.  The pdf files below show which areas are currently affected.  They will remain closed until further notice.

May 2013

Due to a review and upgrade of the County Council website, there will be no Rights of Way news updates for the next few months, although Path Order Notices and Temporary Closure Notices will continue to be kept up-to-date.

Below are a few photos showing recent work carried out by rangers and volunteers.

 The new bridge at Skrikes Wood, Bewerley   Surfacing Mucky Lane, Easby, Hambleton  A new bridge for the Six Dales Trail at Gollinglithwith Foot, Nidderdale  

Gates have now replaced some of the old stone stiles on the Dacre Walls Walk   Some of the tricky stone stiles on this popular walk in Clint have new been replaced by gates and gaps   Volunteers repairing a boardwalk on the Knaresborough Round Walk at Flaxby
