Petition received regarding speeding traffic in Summerhill South of High Bentham

Petition received regarding Speeding Traffic in Summerhill South of High Bentham.

Petition from Summerhill residents

Statement: a site meeting is requested with officers to appraise the situation and discuss (potential solutions) with residents

Date received by NYCC: 18 November 2010.

Total number of signatures: 24

Response to the petitions: the Area Highways Manager met with residents and Bentham Town Councillors on site on 7 March 2011.

After much discussion the following was agreed:

1.  Signs would be erected to warn motorists of the lack of a footpath for the length of road heading into Bentham.  Several residents walked down this stretch of road and were concerned with their safety.  These signs should installed by the end of May 2011.

2.  Bentham Town Council would apply to Craven Community Safety Partnership to arrange the mobile speed detection equipment to be put in place to monitor speeds.
