Response to the petitions:
Whilst the petitions received did not meet the requirements of the County Council's published Petition Scheme (for debate at County Council), in recognition of the significance of the issue, the Chairman exercised discretion and received the petitions at the County Council meeting 15 December 2010, inviting the petition organiser to introduce it. In this way it was acknowledged and informed the Member debate which followed. After extensive debate, the decision was taken to award the contract relating to waste management facilities at Allerton Park to AmeyCespa. The next step will be the company's application to the County Council for planning permission in 2011.
