Employment advice
There are many organisations that provide advice and support for disabled people who are seeking full-time or part-time employment. Information is also readily available for businesses to employ and support disabled people in work.
You can find information using the weblinks below. You might also find the following sections of our website useful.
Disabled people - employment and training schemes (supported employment service)
North Yorkshire County Council can help disabled people with employment and training through our supported employment service.
Supported employment is a way of helping people into paid work, who would otherwise experience difficulties owing to a disability as defined under the Disability Discrimination Act (1995), or carers, as defined by the national carers strategy. It is also about helping employers to support such people in work.
For more information, see the disabled people - employment and training schemes page.
Finding what employment and training options are available
There are many options available for employment and training but finding the right information can sometimes be difficult. Our 'Employment pathways' document acts as a guide for people seeking employment or training, taking you through the options available for your circumstances.
For more information and to download the document, see the employment pathways page.
