Adult placement schemesAdult placement schemes (now called 'Shared Lives') helps approved adult placement carers (ordinary people from the local community) to share their home and time with someone in need.
This is similar to fostering, but for adults rather than children. It is an alternative to residential care for those people who want to live or stay in a home environment but cannot manage on their own. The support can be short or long-term and can be provided by families as well as individuals. Training can also be given to help people provide the right care and support necessary.
