Hazardous waste collection

Hazardous waste is termed hazardous as it contains substances or properties that might cause harm to humans or cause harm to our environment. This does not always mean that it is toxic.

At North Yorkshire County Council we strive to improve the way in which we manage hazardous waste from local residents to reduce the risk it may pose. For more information you can contact us by using the contact details supplied below.

Hazardous chemicals can not be accepted at the Household Waste Recycling Centres, so if you have any hazardous chemicals from your home, please contact the waste management team using the details below.

Please tell the team as much information as you can about what needs to be collected including quantity, volume and size e.g. two, half full, 5 litre tins of paint.

Hazardous chemicals arising from a business must be disposed through a private licensed contractor. A suitable contractor can be found through the yellow pages, web search engines or the waste directory website using the link below.
