What are these services?

I need a companion with me, can they apply as well?

If you are:

  • in receipt of the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance; or
  • the higher rate care component of Disability Living Allowance; or
  • in receipt of higher rate Attendance Allowance; or
  • sight impaired (partially sighted) or severely sight impaired (blind); or
  • those persons resident within North Yorkshire who have a learning disability, are age 19 or under, and in full time education attending a special school

then you can apply for a companion pass (using the application form for disabled persons).  This pass entitles a companion to travel with you on your bus journeys free of charge.  The companion entitlement is provided to you, this is why you need to be the one to make the application.  There is no age restriction on this form of pass.  The pass has a '+C' symbol on the card to show a companion may travel with you.
