What are these services?

What is meant by the government's universal commitment on broadband?

The previous government made a commitment to a 2mbps broadband access speed for everyone by 2012.

This target has now been revised to instead provide more future-proof & faster broadband technologies by 2015. This new commitment is especially aimed at delivering to the rural parts of the country where market forces are not strong enough to deliver the service. The Government have set up Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) to help local authorities and ensure they are ready to, and can deliver, high-speed future-proof internet access.
