Opposing bus service cuts in Selby500 signatures to date of receipt.
Received by NYCC 3 May 2011 Response to the petitions:In the current circumstances the council had to take a number of difficult decisions about the funding for the range of services we provide. In relation to public transport expenditure we have afforded a measure of protection to funding for these services in so far as the budget has been reduced by about 10% which is significantly less than the proportion our total budget has been reduced by. We decided to protect daytime services to rural communities and thus made the reduction by withdrawing funding for the evening and Sunday services, which we had previously subsidised across the county. There are currently no plans to re-introduce the subsidy of evening or Sunday services. |
