Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) information for employers

Stage one

As a manager or verifier you are required to carry out the verification of evidence to support the DBS application form.  We have manager verifier guidance here [314kb] [pdf]. The applicant should have completed their form online and alongside this you will need to complete the  manager verification form [108kb] [excel].

Stage two

You will need to meet the applicant so that they can bring their evidence to you for checking. Please note: the list of acceptable evidence was updated in September 2012. Please refer to the list of acceptable evidence [64kb] [pdf] before completing this task. You must ensure that you see original documentary evidence on a face to face basis provided by your employee. You must only accept evidence that is included in the new list (updated September 2012).

Stage three

On completion of the verification, you must complete the manager verification form [108kb] [excel] and e-mail it to dbsverification@northyorks.gov.uk. This will be reviewed alongside the application form prior to being submitted to DBS.

Stage four

On completion, you will receive notification of the DBS certificate result.
