What are these services?

What do cycle lane signs look like and what do they mean?

The table below shows common cycling signs and what they mean.

Cycle lanes - cyclists only

Cycle route for use by cyclists only.

Cycle lanes - cycle route ahead

Cycle route ahead.

Cycle lanes - advisory route for cyclists

Advisory route for cyclists to use. This would usually be provided on a road with no provisions for cyclists.

Cycle lanes - cycle lane ahead

Cycle lane on the road ahead.

Cycle lanes - with flow cycle lane

Cycle lane on the road for use by cyclists in the same direction as the other traffic.

Cycle lanes - contraflow

Cycle lane on the road for use by cyclists in the opposite direction to the other traffic, usually on one-way roads.

Cycle lanes - no cycling

No cycling.
