Free storytelling and family history event in Scarborough

Families are being offered two days of fun and information at a free event being organised by the North Yorkshire County Record Office and the Adult Learning and Skills Service in Scarborough.

The family history and storytelling event will be held at Talbot House in Scarborough on Wednesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 5. Families are being invited to bring along a picnic lunch - and enjoy a story-telling treat from Roop Singh, the celebrated Sikh raconteur whose expertise has been praised across Europe and as far away as New Zealand and America.

As well as listening to Roop's amazing stories, visitors will have a chance to learn about a wide range of activities, from writing plays to setting up puppet sessions.

On the family history side, there will be workshops and internet access to give people advice and encouragement on researching their family tree.

The Wednesday workshop will run from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The Thursday event runs from 10.30am to 4pm. To book a place, call 0845 0349575
