What is the "normal" school? The term "normal school" means the school allocated by the local authority (LA) to take children from the geographical area within which their home address falls. This may also be referred to as "appropriate", "catchment" or "local" school.
In the case of pupils with a statement this will be school that the local authority considers can best meet a child's needs (i.e the most suitable school). This may be the local school or a special school. If your child attends a different school from the one the local authority considers to be the appropriate school for your child, your child is considered to be attending on parental preference and you will normally be responsible for transport arrangements and costs. |
