What are these services?

My child attends a special school. What is the transport policy?

In the case of pupils with a statement, the policy will be in line with the general home to school transport policy.

If the school is the one that the Local Authority (LA) considers can best meet a child's needs (i.e the most suitable school) your child will be entitled to free home to school transport (or a mileage allowance if appropriate).

If your child attends a different school than the one the LA considers to be the appropriate school for your child then your child is considered to be attending on parental preference and you will normally be responsible for transport arrangements and costs.
