Post 16 pupils who currently receive free transport and are continuing their education at their existing mainstream school can apply for a paid travel permit below. Please note, if you have any special circumstances (including a statement of special educational needs) please apply through the post 16 application process.
For those pupils not entitled to assistance with transport, we are able to sell paid travel permits on school services contracted to North Yorkshire County Council. This includes some services that accept the payment of a daily fare. In order to check whether a bus serves your school from your town/village please visit the timetable information page.

If you wish to apply for a paid travel permit, you will be required to complete an application form and provide your payment details. If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, debit card or credit card you can apply for a paid travel permit online - see below for more information.
The school transport team will review and check the availability on your chosen service(s). Once the transport request has been approved a permit will be issued and payment will be then taken by the payment option you select below. Please note, terms and conditions apply .
If you wish to apply for a post 16 permit but are not continuing education at your existing mainstream school, please apply online through the post 16 application process.
The maximum cost of a paid travel permit for an individual pupil is £360. This may vary depending on individual circumstances. Note: the renewal rate is only applicable to pupils in mainstream transport who purchased their permits prior to the 2012/13 academic year.
