Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) information for passenger transport contractors and their employeesDrivers and passenger assistants working on our transport contracts MUST have a DBS certificate and a valid North Yorkshire County Council DBS badge in order to be able to work with children or adults. This page gives specific guidance to transport contractors and their staff on the process to follow.
All DBS applications must now be completed online. Only in exceptional circumstances will a paper application form be accepted. For a paper application to be accepted it must have been issued by our recruitment and selection service. You can e-mail recruitment@northyorks.gov.uk or telephone 01609 798342. A charge may be imposed for the issuing of paper applications. It is important that you Stage two - applicants to complete - apply for our DBS badgeIn addition to the DBS check, drivers and passenger assistants are required to carry one of our DBS badges whilst on transport contracts. Drivers and passenger assistants are required to carry one of our badges. You must ensure that the applicant has completed a Confirmation of the DBS certificate decision for the applicant, together with our DBS badge (where appropriate), will be sent to you within four weeks of application. Failure to ensure that a signed vetting procedures consent form and photograph are supplied to our integrated passenger transport team will delay the DBS process.
