What are these services?

Copy certificates

You can use our website to request a copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate quickly and easily.

We can only supply copy certificates for records held by our registration service and we do not hold records for City of York or records from before 1 July 1837. Find out about earlier records here.

Boundary changes over the years mean some towns and villages close to our boundary have changed districts. If you are not sure where the record you need is held, you can check here to decide where to apply for your certificate. For persons who have been adopted, to apply for a certificate you must contact the General Register Office.

Fees

The fee for each certificate is £10.  If you require your certificate urgently, a priority service is available. There is an additional fee per order of £6 charged for this service. If you require your certificates to be posted to a destination outside the UK, there is an additional fee per order of £5. All prices include VAT. You can find out more about postage and turnaround times here.
