What are these services?

Consumer advice

Advice to consumers is now provided by the Citizens Advice consumer service, a government funded service.

Before contacting the Citizens Advice consumer service, browse the links below to access trading standards leaflets specific to a range of subjects.

For more information on consumer issues, see the consumer rights page on the GOV.UK website. If you have a complaint or enquiry, you can contact the Citizens Advice consumer service by visiting the Citizens Advice consumer service page of the GOV.UK website.

There are many scams which try to obtain money by false pretences or to gather information about an individual's identity. The Metropolitan Police has issued a Little Book of Big Scams which identifies the most common scams and gives helpful advice and how to safeguard yourself.

There are also many other websites providing information and resources on consumer advice - some of the most useful are listed at the foot of this page.
