Pigs From 1 April 2012, it became mandatory that all pig movements must be recorded via the British Pig Executive (BPEX). For all pig movements, the holding of departure must pre-notify BPEX and that movement must be acknowledged by the receiving holding. This can be done electronically by entering prescribed information into the eAML2 database, which can be accessed at www.eaml2.org.uk . If you do not have access to the internet you can call BPEX directly on their helpline number, 0844 335 8400. Please see the link below to BPEX for further information. Cattle Cattle movements must be accompanied by their passport. All cattle movements must be notified to the British Cattle Movement Service, electronically or by post, within three days of the movement taking place. Prior to any movement the owner/keeper shall inspect the livestock to be moved for signs of foot and mouth disease. If any evidence of such disease is found it must be notified without delay to the divisional veterinary manager of the local DEFRA Animal Health Divisional Office. If any evidence of disease is found, the general licence shall be invalidated, and no animals kept on the premises of departure may be moved.
