Licence - weighbridge operator

Anyone carrying out public weighing (usually on a weighbridge) for which a charge is made needs to hold a certificate showing they have sufficient knowledge to carry out their duties competently and honestly.

A certificate can be issued by a Trading Standards Officer following a short test.

The person tested will be required to show that they can:

  • operate the equipment satisfactorily
  • complete any associated documentation satisfactorily
  • understand basic terms associated with the equipment
  • understand potential frauds which may be unknowingly assisted by them
  • understand factors affecting the accuracy of the equipment
  • perform simple arithmetic (with the aid of a calculator)

A test can be arranged by contacting the Community Support Services Team on 01609 534867.
