At the time of your ceremony in North Yorkshire, you will be given a copy of your wedding certificate, the cost of which is included in the fee paid. If you wish additional copies at the time of the wedding then please let us know and we will be only too happy to supply these. There will be a small charge for additional copies.

Once the marriage register is full, this will passed to our central repository at Harrogate. If you therefore require a copy of your wedding certificate at a later date, than you should apply to the Harrogate office, details of which are given below. If we find the register is still in use, we will arrange for a copy to be supplied to you. 

If you married in a church the situation is different. Once the church fills a register it is passed to us to store at Harrogate. If we have the register we can supply a copy certificate from that register. However, it can take many years for a church to fill a register and indeed one church register was in continuous use from 1856 to 1999. We maintain lists of those registers we have in our possession. If we find that the register is still in use at the church, then you will need to apply directly to the Priest or Vicar in Charge of that church who is the only person who can supply a copy to you.

Paying for your copy certificate

The easiest way to apply is to post your order with a cheque and a stamped addressed envelope to the certificate service at the County Register Office in Harrogate. We can then ensure that we have the register and that you are applying to the correct office.

We will not bank your cheque until we able to fulfill your request. We aim to have the certificate in the post to you within two working days.

Alternatively you can also send your order in on-line and we will then contact you to arrange payment. Credit card payments are accepted over the telephone but please note, there is a £1.50 charge for the transaction.
