What are these services?

Youth offending

The Youth Justice Service is a multi-disciplinary group of expert staff, including police officers, social workers, probation officers and others, who provide an integrated youth justice service across North Yorkshire.

This service includes:

  • Working with parents to promote constructive alternatives for young people, including a range of targeted prevention and diversion projects;
  • Supervising convicted young offenders in the community or in custody, by confronting and changing their attitudes, behaviour and circumstances; and
  • Providing advice and support for victims of youth crime and also for the parents and carers of young offenders.

The key aims of the Youth Justice Service are to prevent young people from offending, to safeguard the welfare of young people and to protect the public.
