Asylum seekers - advice and support

North Yorkshire County Council provides help with accommodation and/or subsistence for those asylum seekers that are eligible for support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Interim provisions).

This covers those who:

All other asylum seekers needing help with accommodation and/or subsistence should approach the National Asylum Support Service (NASS) for assistance.

The County Council provides support for families and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children as part of its statutory responsibilities.

Where asylum seekers have community care needs, for example they have a physical or learning disability, they are entitled to an assessment for community care services, in the same way as all other North Yorkshire residents.
