What are these services?

School - book purchase scheme

The North Yorkshire County Council school library service has a bookshop based at library headquarters in Northallerton. Chosen by experienced and knowledgeable staff, our books are eminently suitable to support school libraries in their curriculum and reader development needs.

Schools have two choices for purchasing books from the school library service, visiting our bookshop or using the assisted purchase scheme.

Purchasing from the school library service bookshop

If you visit the bookshop you will receive a 20 per cent discount on publishers' prices. You will be able to choose your books from a dedicated collection chosen to enhance the stock of school libraries. In addition, school library service staff will be on hand to ensure you have a successful visit.

Using the assisted purchasing scheme

If you are unable to visit the bookshop, you can use our assisted purchasing scheme to receive the same service. School library service staff will create a bespoke shopping basket designed to meet the specification provided by the school. At discounts of between 15 and 20 per cent, dependant on the level of support necessary, we can provide distance shopping with added value.

Books are supplied with covers, where appropriate.

If you are interested in either visiting the bookshop or using our assisted purchasing scheme, please contact us.

See the school library service - Northallerton page for full contact details and opening hours.
