Schools library service - loansThe project loans service from the school library service provides individual teachers with specially selected resources for all subjects and key stages to support the National Curriculum.
This page covers the following areas:
The service provides a huge range of resources to enrich learning and teaching, including collections of up to 25 books selected to meet your individual needs; and pictures, CDs, artefacts and other audio visual material, provided when available. The project loans service also offers value for money. For every £1 spent you gain £7 value in books. Content of the project collectionsResources for the project collections are selected from our extensive range at Northallerton and Starbeck (over 170,000 books). New stock is bought when published. When requesting a collection, you may select up to three topics to be covered in one project collection, for example 'Sikhism', 'magnets' and 'the Tudors'. The project collection will contain up to 25 individual titles for primary collections and up to 15 individual titles for secondary collections. Most of the books are non-fiction but we do include some fiction related to the topics chosen. The books are selected to meet individual teachers' needs, according to subject and reading ability. You may also visit our bases to select your own project collections if you wish. "Thank you for an excellent resource, the children have got a lot of enjoyment and learning from these books" "Thank you, these books were fantastic! The children loved reading them to find out about our topic" Requesting a project collectionThere are several ways to request a project collection:
Please let us know your requests before school holidays commence. If you need to change your project request or are late with your request, please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate your requirements. Full contact details for the school library service can be found below. Delivery of the project collectionsWe will deliver project collections directly to your school during the first week of term or half-term. See the delivery and collection dates page for more details. Projects are collected during the last week at the end of a full term and at the same time as delivery after the half-term break. If you miss the delivery date for projects, you can still order a collection but the delivery will be to your local library who will contact you when your project has arrived for collection. "Brilliant service, thanks"
