What are these services?

Special educational needs - disabled students allowance

These allowances are intended to assist students with disabilities attending full-time and part-time higher education courses to benefit as fully as possible from their course. They are designed to cover special equipment, non-medical helpers and other general expenses.

More information can be found on the Directgov website and in the Department for Education document "Bridging the Gap" which can be downloaded below.

If you are attending full time or part time further or higher education you may also be eligible for a 16-19 bursary. The 16-19 bursary is intended to assist students with and without disabilities to remain in learning and to benefit as fully as possible from their course. They are designed to cover special equipment, non-medical helpers and other general expenses. For more information click here.
