Child-minding information

Have you thought of a rewarding career in childcare? Are you looking to set up as a day care provider in North Yorkshire?

So what is the difference?

  • A childminder is a person who looks after one or more children under the age of eight, to whom they are not related, on domestic premises, for more than two hours and for reward.
  • A day care provider provides care at any time (day or night) for children under eight on premises other than domestic premises for more than a total of two hours a day.

Both childminders and day care providers are required by law to be registered with Ofsted.

If you are interested in becoming a childminder or in setting up day care provision within North Yorkshire please contact the North Yorkshire Families Information Service on 0845 6011 630 or visit their website.
