Schools library service - advice and training
The school library service provides a resources loan and library advisory service to educational establishments within North Yorkshire and the City of York.
By using the school library service you can: - save time and money;
- respond quickly to curriculum demands;
- develop your pupils' reading and learning experiences; and
- improve the quality of your school's resources
We offer a range of services and facilities, including: - advice, including library policy, development of new libraries and using ICT in libraries;
- a project loans service, providing specially selected resources for all subjects and key stages to support the National Curriculum;
- reading development loans;
- a book purchase scheme for school libraries and classroom collections;
- new and recommended books;
- resources to support literacy and numeracy;
- book promotion and information skills sessions for children;
- support for reading clubs and out of school hours activities;
- continuing professional development for teachers;
- newsletter and telephone support; and
- giving talks on children's books to encourage children to enjoy reading and to develop their independent learning skills
