What are these services?

Schools library service - school visits and promotions

School library service specialists will be pleased to visit your school or group to encourage children to enjoy reading and to develop their independent learning skills. We also organise author visits to inspire your pupils to want to read.

An overview about school visits and promotions, as well as specific packages, can be found below.

Book talks

Staff will introduce children to a wide range of books and authors and foster a love of reading and listening to stories. The basic package includes a visit of up to two hours. For the premier package, the book talk visit can be up to half a day in duration. Please talk to us about your requirements.

Author visits

You can request a visit from a real life author, poet, storyteller or illustrator to inspire your pupils to want to read. This bespoke service for your school includes all the booking and travel arrangements and visits may be booked at any time throughout the year. Visits can be for a half-day at a cost of £300 or a whole day at a cost of £600. See the list below for the people available for 2013-14.

"It was brilliant, the children were inspired!"
Quote from a teacher at East Whitby School.

"We had a great morning with our author, he really knew how to engage the children. I would thoroughly recommend him"
Quote from a librarian at Norton County Primary School.
