The County Music Service provides instrumental and vocal tuition to pupils in local authority schools throughout North Yorkshire.
It operates Saturday morning music centres in Harrogate, Northallerton, Scarborough, Skipton, Selby and Whitby. These music centres offer young people the opportunity to experience ensemble work at a range of levels appropriate to their needs. This enables them in turn to enrich their own schools' orchestras and bands.
Each year the music service also runs a variety of county ensembles for which young people can audition.
For more information on what the County Music Service can offer or details about joining one of the music centres, please contact the Music Service Administrative Office, County Hall on the number below.
If your child is having lessons from a County Music Service Teacher in a North Yorkshire local authority school, the County Music Service is able to offer you the opportunity of buying an instrument without paying any Value Added Tax (VAT). This scheme is called the Assisted Purchase Scheme. More information can be found on the Musical Instrument Purchase Scheme page on this website.
