School - catering
North Yorkshire County Council attaches great importance to the provision of meals in our schools. The Council recognises that our menus should be both healthy and popular.
North Yorkshire County Caterers, part of the Children and Young People's Service, provides the catering in the majority of our primary and secondary schools under a Countywide catering contract. This catering contract is overseen by the Council's Catering Board whose members include County Councillors, Headteachers, Governors, employees and Trade Union representatives. The catering in all schools is monitored by a team of officers to ensure meals are safe, high quality and value for money and we welcome comments and queries from our customers and their parents/carers as well as the public in general. We have two websites - one for primary school pupils and one for secondary school pupils. The primary school website can be found on www.myschoollunch.co.uk/northyorks and the aims of this website are to: promote healthy school meals in North Yorkshire provide parents with information, including our menus, and the means to contact us provide teaching resources through lesson plans/activity sheets which link to games available on the website be a site where pupils can have fun on the internet in a safe environment.
Secondary school students can access their website on www.yougo4it.co.uk/northyorks. This website encourages students to be healthy through healthy eating and exercise and deals with issues that are relevant to this age group.
